In the 1KA app, you can adjust the language on three levels in the 'EDIT' - 'Settings' - 'Basic settings' tab.

1. Language of the administrative interface

You can set the basic language of the 1KA application's administrative interface, choosing between Slovenian and English. The language you choose does not affect the language of the survey as it will be seen by respondents. In addition, you can change the language for the 'My Surveys' tab, where you can also choose between Slovenian and English.

2. Basic survey language for respondents

Select the language for the respondents from the drop-down list. 1KA currently supports practically all European languages (38 languages). This means that standard words (such as 'Next page') will be automatically translated into the language you have chosen.

3. Additional language settings for respondents

By clicking on the 'Multilanguage surveys' button, you have additional language options where you can translate the basic questionnaire into different languages. To do this, select the language you want to translate the questionnaire into from the drop-down list and then click on 'Add new translation'. The basic version of the questionnaire and the version to be translated will appear in parallel. This parallel view allows you to easily translate the questionnaire.

You can add multiple translations and then edit individual translations by clicking on the language of your choice in the 'Additional languages for respondents' category, by clicking on the language you want to edit.

You can also specify whether the respondent can choose the language. If the respondent chooses the language, you can send the same questionnaire to different target populations and the choice of language will be the first question in the survey. If you specify that the respondent chooses the language, you can also set the format of the display of the language choice question; you can choose between radio buttons or a dropdown menu.

Each version (translation) of the questionnaire has its own URL address, which can be accessed in the 'PUBLISH' - 'Overview' tab. This is particularly important if you decide to choose the language for the respondent, as in this case, for example, the URL for the English version of the questionnaire will lead to the survey in English. If the respondent can choose the language, the introduction will be the same for all versions of the questionnaire, regardless of the URL or language choice.

In the 'DATA' - 'Browse' tab, where you can see the data collected, if there are several language versions of the questionnaire, 'Language' will also appear as an additional variable.

In the 'ANALYSE' - 'Statistics' tab, language appears as a variable of its own, which allows you to compare respondents' answers also by language.
