Who is developing 1KA and why?

The tool is being developed by researchers at the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), who carried out some of the first ever online survey research (in 1996) and are one of the leading groups in survey methodology. This included the coordination of the EU Framework Programme project WebSM.org, which in 2002-2004 upgraded the central global information point for online surveys that CSI has maintained since 1998.

The tool therefore serves primarily the research process by allowing methodological experiments to be carried out. In this context, the ARRS core project on the integration of online surveys into probability samples was also carried out.

The development is also integrated into the pedagogical activities of the Chair of Social Informatics and Methodology at the Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Ljubljana), which provides the central academic training in Slovenia in the field of survey data collection and social science methodology. The tool is therefore also integrated into the educational or pedagogical process of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

We are also the organisers of the Web Survey Day event, which until recently was held annually. It is attended by participants from the public sector (including educational and research institutions) as well as from companies, media houses and PR agencies.
